Most Fuel Efficient Cars for 2010

Gas prices soared to $4.11 and higher in some places during the summer of 2008; the demand for hybrids and fuel efficient cars soared for the 2010 models. This article will take a look at the most fuel efficient 2010 car models, where to get them, specifications, and MSRP.

1. Toyota Prius 2010

The Toyota Prius is no stranger to great fuel efficiency; this hybrid boasts 51 MPG fuel economy and more horsepower than the previous model. This model is also more stylish than previous models; I especially like solar powered roof which provides energy for a cooling fan throughout the entire car. This Prius gets an estimated 51 MPG city and 48 MPG highway and retails for around $22,000; this car can be found at www.toyota.com.

2. Honda Civic Hybrid

Alright this is the 2009 model since the 2010 hasn’t been released yet; however I do not believe there will be many differences besides cosmetics. This fuel efficient car from Honda is one of my favorites, I currently own one and they get great fuel economy. At 40 MPG city and 45 MPG highway, this is a perfect balance of great looks and amazing fuel economy packaged at a reasonable price. Starting at $23,650 this 110 HP car will not disappoint, for more information visit the Honda website at www.honda.com.

3. Honda Insight Hybrid 2010

Honda made the list again with their affordable yet nice looking Honda Insight Hybrid. This hybrid has been coined “the hybrid for everyone” by Honda; I am not buying this slogan since the MSRP is still around $19,800, which is just slightly under the Prius and Civic. This car does mix functionality and is sporty with many features including navigations on one trim. The styling is unmatched and has an impressive fuel economy of 43 highway and 40 city MPG. More information can be found at www.honda.com.

4. Volkswagen Jetta TDI

Volkswagen cars are my favorite affordable German cars in America, this sporty sedan sports a supercharged diesel engine that is not only clean burning but provides better fuel economy. At around 41 MPG highway and 30 MPG city this non hybrid outperforms the rest. Road testers have even got this car to get around 58 MPG highway which is phenomenal for a non hybrid. Though diesel gas is more expensive, this sporty high horsepower car will save gas and look stylish while doing so. Base MSRP is around $22,270, more information can be found at www.VW.com.

5. Toyota Camry Hybrid

This particular Toyota Camry is the 2009 model; however there shouldn’t be too many changes to the 2010 model. This hybrid by Toyota has impressive fuel economy of 34 MPG highway and 33 MPG city. This model starts at $26,150 which is great for a midsize family car; more information this model or any other Toyota models can be found at www.toyota.com.
